Manager, A/V Production

The Audio Visual Production Department of Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation currently requires a full-time Manager. Reporting to the Director, Client Services, the Manager, A/V Production builds a strong customer service-oriented audio visual team through the day-to-day management of the department. The work schedule will vary week to week depending upon the events schedule and additional hours may be required. Day, evening, and weekend shifts will be required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify Corporate AV needs, research and recommend appropriate equipment, purchase and/or rent equipment, and coordinate installation of equipment
  • Organize and maintain compliance, license, and warranty information related to A/V equipment and systems
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and related supplies; ensure timely repair and
    maintenance of equipment
  • In collaboration with the other Prairieland departments, identify customer A/V requirements, coordinate the sale of corporate audio visual equipment and services, and prepare and follow-up on price quotes and invoicing for clients
  • Develop and manage A/V Production operating and capital budget. Monitor approved budget and authorize expenditures in accordance with corporate policies and procedures
  • Establish A/V equipment and services pricing schedule
  • In collaboration with Prairieland departments, identify IATSE staffing requirements
  • Establish work rules for IATSE staff including: scheduling through IATSE, IATSE timesheet completion and approval, direct and coordinate activities of IATSE staff on site, orient and train, evaluate performance and discipline, and monitor workplace health and safety
  • Lead IATSE contract negotiations
  • In collaboration with the Director, Client Services & Human Resources, facilitate and or participate in resolution of interdepartmental conflicts
  • Develop a strategic and operational plan for the A/V Production Department that reflects a clear understanding of corporate mission, vision and strategic goals as well as trends and innovations associated with the delivery of audio visual services in a large trade and convention center
  • Assist in the development of corporate risk management, disaster preparedness, and emergency management plans related to Prairieland

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to act effectively as part of a team and to lead a team
  • Leading edge knowledge of audio visual equipment and systems as evidenced by several years’ experience in the sale, set up, maintenance, repair and operation of audio visual systems
  • Knowledge of complex video systems
  • Knowledge of sound and lighting production requirements and products for professional touring artists
  • Knowledge of wireless networks
  • Knowledge of personal computer operating systems as it relates to audio visual presentation systems
  • Knowledge of complex media presentation tools and techniques

About the Position 

As the Director, Facilities Management & Operations Services, you will be a key player in shaping the future of our organization. Reporting to the CEO, you will lead a dedicated team and drive excellence in facilities management, operations, and event support ensuring we deliver on our mission to produce, host and facilitate extraordinary events through superior first-rate customer service and facilities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the department business plan and annual budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Recruit, coach, develop, and lead a high-performing team dedicated to delivering exceptional service.
  • Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the department, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Drive operational excellence, ensuring the efficient and effective execution of departmental initiatives.
  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture within the organization.
  • Manage the capital budget and planned expenditures for facilities and operations.
  • Develop business cases for on-site development, contributing to the growth and enhancement of our venue.
  • Oversee all on-site projects and new developments.

To prepare for this senior role, you have a business or related degree and 7+ years of experience in all facets of building systems and operations. You are familiar with asset and maintenance management software. Six Sigma or similar training is a definite asset.

Duties:

  • In collaboration with Operations Department Staff, Event Coordinators, and customers,
    temporary installation and/or removal of material required for individual events in
    accordance with event specifications to include staging, carpet, drape, tables, chairs,
    décor material, and other equipment.
  • Materials handling (shipping/ receiving) of tradeshow related materials, sign installation
    and other services in accordance with event specifications.
  • Monitoring of all building mechanical (lighting, temperature, electrical) for maintenance
    of facilities to ensure safety and comfort for all.
  • Communication with co-workers and customers to ensure that all event requirements and
    event changes are completed to the customer’s satisfaction or passed on to the
    appropriate person to be addressed.
  • General maintenance duties as assigned for upkeep of facilities and all property.

Chef de Partie (F/T)

The Food and Beverage department of Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation currently requires a full-time Chef de Partie.

The Chef de Partie will assist in facilitating extraordinary culinary events, smooth kitchen operations, superior first-rate customer service, and a positive, safe working environment. This position will report to the Executive Chef (EC) and will assist the EC in planning and food preparation for events as large as 5,000 people, as well as supervision of staff.

The role is 40 hours per week and the work schedule will vary from week to week depending upon the events schedule, additional hours may be required. Day, evening, weekend, and night shifts will be required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to menu and product research and development.
  • Execute menus in collaboration with the Food and Beverage team.
  • Contribute to monitoring the quality and presentation of menu items prior to being served to guests.
  • Contribute to managing inventory of supplies and ingredients. This includes but is not limited to ordering, receiving, properly storing, and identifying needed supplies and ingredients.
  • In the absence of the Executive Chef and Sous Chef, direct the activities of all kitchen staff. This includes being accountable for training, providing encouragement and feedback, and enabling the team to execute first rate customer service in a positive, safe work environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Contribute to training staff on safe work procedures, food handling, and equipment usage.
  • Monitor adherence to health and safety practices and policies. Ensure safe practices are upheld.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report any safety concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Culinary education is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible experience in commercial food preparation. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Supervisory and kitchen management experience preferred.
  • WHIMS Certification, Food Safe Level 1 and 2 Certification.
  • Experience in purchasing food and beverage products and services and experience in receiving, storage and maintenance of inventory.
  • Knowledge of common commercial kitchen equipment; food preparation terms; cooking methods; meat cuts; fish and shellfish; poultry; catering terms.
  • This position requires standing, walking, and lifting awkward / heavy objects along with use of pallet jacks when moving product or accepting orders.
